Misnomer is an innovative, fast-paced mover-and-shaker in the arts world. Whether moving people through art or building transformative web platforms for engagement, Misnomer creates experimental, unexpected, and powerful ways for artists and audiences to create and find meaning together.

An internship with Misnomer is a chance for a committed and qualified candidate to be part of a vibrant organization at a moment of great growth and opportunity. Full and part-time internships are unpaid, and are available year-round on a rolling basis for graduate and undergraduate students and emerging professionals.

GENERAL INTERNSHIP

Looking to get a taste of the inner workings of a dance and technology company? Want a well-rounded experience? Misnomer offers a general internship in which you will have the opportunity to assist in a range of areas across the company to get exposure to the scope of elements in running a company. You’ll work with a dynamic team of staff, consultants, and interns.


DEVELOPMENT & FUNDRAISING

As a development intern you will assist the executive staff in researching grants and funders; drafting proposals for institutional grants, reports, and donor correspondence; database maintenance; assisting with special event preparation and cultivation events.

WEB & DIGITAL MEDIA

Working directly with the company’s core staff and with technology consultants, you will work on innovative and cutting-edge projects in the social web and digital media space.  You will develop and expand Misnomer’s online initiatives, directly impacting the field of arts and technology.

MARKETING & COMMUNITY

Working directly the company’s core staff and with strategic digital marketing consultants, you will assist with Misnomer’s social media and e-campaigns, and will also help produce web content. This internship will work both with the overall company and with Misnomer’s Audience Engagement Platform.

 

AGILE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Get hands-on experience in a fast-paced arts company. Misnomer is both providing cutting-edge dance and developing a web start-up to advance audience engagement in the arts. This is an opportunity to both experience a producing dance company and a web start-up in one! Managing these two initiatives in a single organization provides an exciting opportunity for management innovations. You will be directly involved in the orchestration of several projects, including management, production, administration, and strategy. The position requires a high-degree of responsibility and productivity while successfully juggling multiple projects.

GoSeeDo.org (formerly known as AEP) has attracted major articles and media attention within the field and from news sources, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Fast Company.
